How To Comment – Without looking Like a Spammer

I decided to write this post due to the number of spam comments I am getting. It never ceases to amaze me how people will spend time and money trying to get links to their site by adding the keyword they are targeting in the name box when the make a comment.

It doesn’t work! (well not much any way!)

What you need is good quality blogs from sites with traffic and regular posts, this accomplishes 3 things.

1. You get a link back to your site

2. You get traffic from your Lionk

3. The blog owner gets Unique content added via the conthen.

It’s the perfect symbiotic relationship!

Sites with the Comment luv plugin are the ideal  sites to look for as the blog owner wants you to leave a comment. Thats why I use it myself. I welcome good quality on topic comments.

So how do you locate these blogs to comment on easy use:    keyword “Recently Posted..”    (the 2 dots are important)  This will bring up lists of blogs in your niche that are using the comment luv plugin.

There is one other thing you should do that will really enhance your comments and drive more traffic to your sites, but to find out what that is you’ll need to watch the short video below.(it’s 8 minutes..is that short? )

Once you’ve watched it …don’t forget to leave a comment and share this with your friends…

That was a useful tip about finding recent posts. (You’ll have to watch the video 🙂 ).

I find that I rarely see this type of comment as they tend to go straight to the spam folder. Another reason not to do it.

What I really don’t understand is when people take the trouble to post something relevant to the post and then use the spammy link text. You only have to look at the other comments on the blog to see that people aren’t getting away with it.

Even worse is when they go to this trouble and then mis-type their URL so the link doesn’t work.

Can you actually believe 2 of the first 3 comments to this article were spam comments !!

Below is a comment for Mr or Mrs .. ID Bracelets!

“I got this web page from my buddy who informed me concerning this web site and at the moment this time I am browsing this web page and reading very informative articles or reviews at this place.”

Wise up loser!!

Another good footprint for CommentLuv is “Confirm you are NOT a spammer”, which when you combine with your advanced search technique will show new blog posts where you may have a chance of getting a 1st comment.

I enjoyed both the video and the text part of your post. I really appreciate the tip on how to find “comment luv” sites. Thanks.

At one time, when I posted to a blog, I would put my name in the name box, followed by a “dash” and the name of my newsletter. I don’t do that anymore, but blog owners didn’t seem to mind. I always left a quality comment.

Anyhow, I appreciate all the information you share. Keep up the good work.

All the best,
Laurie

Mark,

Thanks for the tips as always.

A question for you … is the sign-up box in the sidebar created via the Optin Skin plugin you mentioned recently? Looks cool if it is.

Hi Mark,

As always you provide valuable and much needed information, the problem is that a lot of marketers are teaching that you should use your keyword in the name field which I feel is spamming, there are other ways to use anchor text backlinks but when commenting I believe that your real name should be used.

One more point I’ll add to this when commenting on a CommentLuv enabled site is to choose a post to display as your CL link that is related to the post you are commenting on like I did here in this very comment you’re reading now 😉

Mark thanks for the search query for finding comluv blogs! Been looking for a way to find them. The comluv site used to allow you to search for blogs that used the plugin, but that was over a year ago.

Mark, thanks for turning me on to commentluv… I was always skeptical of having comments on my site because of spammers but it seems that most commentluv commenters try to add to the blogs with specific and good comments. I am starting to put them on many of my other websites. Plus blogs with commmentluv make it easy to comment and confirms that the blogger wants good comments.

I think that many are users of the premium version and that allows you to comment and leave almost any link from your site, because that is valuable users take time to make good comments.

It also helps you to find relevant blogs to comment on, for example your link might be perfect for a site in a related niche that i have, so it would make sense for me to leave a high quality comment which will benefit both of us.

Great information, I just learned a lot!
I swear sometimes I am so dumb. I had no idea about the whole backlinking with commenting thing. I’ve never commented on an article unless I really was interested in the content, definitely never did it for a backlink. That’s why I was so surprised when I commented on your articles and all of a sudden there was a link to one of my sites. The first time I saw that I was in awe and dumbfounded. I would sometimes think about that and wonder, thinking that was pretty cool. Well you just helped me understand the whole process and I thinks that’s pretty darn cool. Thanks a bunch. By the way, I’m still only commenting because I want too.
You are one of the few marketers I follow, because I like your integrity, I learn a lot and I really enjoy your accent. It’s quite fun to listen to you. lol
Thank you Mark for enlightening me.

This is a good post, I just started learning about Commentluv and installed it today on two of my blogs. I had no idea though that you could spam it, I thought that was the point to reduce spam? I must be missing something in how it all works. Either way thanks for sharing this, the more I learn the less I know yet the more equipped I am!

Mark, thanks for this great commenting idea. I always wanted to do it “the right way” but usually after posting a few comments (from which only a couple were approved) I ended and stopped commenting. But your CommentLuv way seems to be exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again!
