An Alternative To LoveClaw

By Mark / April 9, 2013

You are probably getting tired of the hype that is surrounding Loveclaw which is released today.

It’s social media plugin that replaces the like button on your blog posts… although if you read some of the emails and blog posts I’ve read you would be forgiven in believing that it was going to change the world, cure cancer and win Arsenal a trophy.

If you don’t want to pay for it , don’t worry I’ve found a cheap/free alternative.

I’ll be testing on this blog so check it out below the video….sweet!

Check out the video below

Ooo, that’s nice! I’m starting a new site so this could be just what the doctor ordered.

I’ve read on another forum how disgusted many people are with this latest launch. Not happy at all. Luckily, I heard enough about it on Income Igniter yesterday so I just deleted any emails that had love claw in the title this morning. Yet another benefit of II.

Hey Mark, its great you hunt of freebie alternatives for your subscribers!

Here are the advantages of LoveClaw…

– The plugin in the video takes 2 clicks before taking you to share, this is done in one click by LoveClaw. That has a significant impact in the level of sharing, as you tend to see a big drop off with each extra step needed to complete an action.

– LoveClaw works on ANY website. Not just WordPress.

– LoveClaw works with Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook and more. This is one click

– LoveClaw is tested and used in HUGE viral marketing campaign gathering a lot of intelligence on what works best to increase your social shares and user engagement.

– LoveClaw can use highly engaging images rather than words which drastically increase the share rate.

– LoveClaw includes complimentary training on how to bring 1000 new visitors to your site in 7 days and a variety of training on generating serious buzz, backlinks, social shares and traffic for your website.

– LoveClaw takes up less space on your website, while still being very eye catching and engaging.

– LoveClaw allows you to control where the ‘via’ link goes when you post to Facebook.

– Its well known plugins can drastically slow down your website (and speed is VERY important). This plugin in your video relies on the user’s server to make all the extra calculation

– LoveClaw has a dedicated support team.

– The plugin in the video limits you to 2-6 ‘moods’, whereas with LoveClaw you can choose as many or as little as you want.

– LoveClaw provides a Thank You box after sharing. This can be used to present offers, links to other blog posts, email opt-ins etc.

– There are also a bunch of other little touches (like detecting if users are logged into Twitter and acting accordingly), which have been added after testing to keep increasing the rate of shares. That’s why it is so effective.

– I do like the look of this plugin, but its not very widely used so will be unable to fund continual development. Alternatively LoveClaw is already used on over 5000 domains, and within about a month of writing this it will be used on over 10,000 domains.

I hope that helps clear up some of the differences.

The price of the pro plugin in the video is $12 for a single site without rights to sell a site to a client. It’s $60 if you want to sell to clients. This works out A LOT more expensive than the current LoveClaw deal.

The free version contains their branding and traffic leaks and other restrictions. On the developers own blog the contents of the buttons is also off center with the text appearing slightly out of the box.

That said I do like the style of the plugin, and I consider it a very SMART idea to connect with your audience emotionally in this way.

Oh come on, the product hasn’t been invented yet that can win Arsenal a trophy! Although watch for a WSO in the next few weeks …

I was really confused when I saw this “launch” because I bought Love Claw in October 2011. I guess I was just before my time again 😛

As an avid sports fan I must say it’s a long time since I’ve seen the words “Arsenal” and trophy” in the same sentence , so often!

I suspect that Arsenal has about as much chance as the Leafs winning the Stanley Cup to bring things to the other side of the pond 8=)

Anyway, the thing I noticed about LoveClaw was that it looked more like an expansion of the Facebook “Like” button. Facebook has rolled out a new part of their API to allow for more than just like buttons but I don’t know if LC uses that (I suspect that they do). This allows an “I love it!” or “Hated that” button to be added to your site that shows directly on FB. No need to share or comment. It would show up in the stream as a normal like button would. Their graphics also have the thumbs up/down symbol that people associate with FB.

I didn’t read all the details of the API announcement, but it sure sounds like an improvement over the generic like.

MoodThingy doesn’t seem to be doing that.

The one thing that I wasn’t clear about with LoveClaw was whether their server is involved. From their salespage graphics, it seems that it is, and that would make me a little nervous about it.

But the idea of giving users more options to express their emotions about a post and have that directly tied back into Facebook and Twitter is cool.

I’d like to see an easy way to allow users to share/like as a page. Are there any plugins out there that support that kind of functionality? I think it should be built into the FB side of things, but it doesn’t appear that it is.

What did Munch mean, above, when he said that in regard to the MoodThingy’s developer’s license, that $60 “works out A LOT more expensive than the current LoveClaw deal.”

When LoveClaw is recurring every month, and LoveThingy is a one off, how can he say that? What am I missing?

I believe that LoveClaw is probably better, but for the price, if I were to get either right now, it would be MoodThingy.

Thanks for this find, Mr T

Hi Bosco

The current offer for LoveClaw is a 1 time payment for life. They plan to take it to monthly payments soon. The sales page doesn’t make that easy to see though, and I missed it the first time around. I think they should put that in the payment buttons themselves to avoid confusion.

The alternative that you have showed in the video seems pretty useful and the fact that it is free is very generous of the creators. I`ve never used LoveClaw, but I`ve read things about it and I`ve sensed the frenzy and the buzz around it. Thank you for the video.
