Clickbank…Check Your Stats

By Mark / September 24, 2007

I was looking at some income stats from various income stream for a post I was preparing for the members of The Income Academy. I was comparing the income I made from selling my own products, Clickbank and Adsense. Selling my own products or Products that I have resale rights for is by far the most profitable. But by far and way the most interesting fact I discovered while researching was that that for every person I send to clickbank over the past year I’ve earned 44 cents. That my friends is an eCPM of $440 (earning per thousand clicks)

Before you go any further have a look at your AdSense eCPM if it’s over $100 you are doing well Lets just look at that for a moment If I send 1000 people to Clickbank today via my hop links I should earn $440 That Is a good rate of return. If I realised that last year I would have put all my energies into promoting more Clickbank products.

From looking at my stats I know that I need to send 69 people to CB to make 1 sale which is obviously a lot worse than AdSense where I usually earn from 1 in every 5 visitors. However the good thing about these Clickbank stats is that they have lots of room for improvement.

By quickly stopping promotion of products that don’t convert well I should be able to improve both figures significantly. I would like to aim for a conversion every 25 visitors and to make on average $0.75 per visitor. As I usually do article marketing and send potential customers to a landing page my costs are low. Even by spending $0.20 per click on PPC I could still make a healthy income from Clickbank.

I suspect that even earning an average of 15 cents per visitor would still outstrip adsense more efficient source of income. Perhaps it’s time to experiment with Clickbank ads on some of your sites rather than adsense.
