I’ve been offline for almost a week due to the local telecom company forgetting how to maintain DSL lines! 12 -18 months ago that would have been a disaster for me. I wouldn’t have been able to create sites or update existing sites. This time without internet access it was great, I was able to get to the mountains and the beach secure in the knowledge that my sites were fine and that they would basically update and maintain themselves.
I just logged on in the local internet café over a cappuccino to check how much I had earned the day before and maybe tweaked a few blog settings. What a difference a year makes. The big difference is that now I have taken everything back to basics. I don’t use many tools anymore, I use WordPress as the basis to most of my sites and plugins deal with fresh original content and site promotion.
As it’s coming up to the end of the year it’s a good time to evaluate exactly what you are doing to earn money and what you can improve on. It’s all too easy to get into a system and not notice that things have moved on.
Taking things back to basics also means you can react to situations quicker, if Google tweaks their algorithm again. Also by keeping things simple you are doing what the search engines want you to do. Which do you think Google finds more appropriate a wordpress blog updated 3 or 4 times a week with unique content or a generated site with multiple pages of PLR content and random rss feeds added?
Hopefully that will have given you food for thought.[tags]make money online [/tags]
