Can You Become a Full Time Internet Marketer?

By Mark / September 20, 2010

One of the nicest things that happens in my Internet marketing Life is when members of The WordPress goldmine Forum announce that they are “Going Fulltime”. it takes courage and self belief to finally let go of a “real job” and dedicate yourself to creating 100% of your income from online sources.

It is however not as difficult as you might think. You see people mistakenly think that being a full time internet marketer involves building sites everyday, and generating income from amazon, adsense or Clickbank. It’s not.

My wife is a full time internet marketer and she has never built a site in her life. She started writing content for me and now writes for a wide variety of companies and individuals, she even has her own office in a nearby town.

I have a friend and while he has some sites his main internet marketing income comes from working with bricks and mortar companies who he creates lead generation systems for online…sounds technical doesn’t it… It’s basically exactly what you and me do with our sites on a daily basis.

I know people who have built small email lists and generate enough income by guiding these people…(not selling) that they can afford to work full time at internet marketing

I really believe that probably half the people reading this post could be full time internet marketers within 90 days if they wanted to and believed that they could succeed.

Step 1

Ask yourself are you prepared to work hard to make it happen. I am serious here everyone I know who has succeeded has worked harder at internet marketing than at their “Real life” jobs once they made the leap. They took the long term view, they knew 2 or 3 years hard work would mean they could relax a few years down the line.

If the answer to that is no then don’t read on.

Step 2.

Know how much money you need each month. Do a budget and be honest, work out what you will need to spend each month then work out how much you need to earn, thats your target.

Divide the monthly target by 30 so you know your daily target.. $100 a day is a much easier target than $3000

Step 3

The easiest way to make money when you are starting is to provide a service to people, Can you write? Can you create backlinks ? can you do keyword research? Spend time each day doing the jobs other people like to outsource. This will free you up to work at your own projects each day without the fear of not being able to survive.

Your own projects and products are where you’ll make most money, and this is what I try to get across to people at the seminars I’ve done recently.

Las Vegas

If you would like to take the plunge and become a full time Internet Marketer there are a couple of tickets left for the Las Vegas seminar which is taking place in the first week in october. It’s restricted to only 25 people to ensure that it’s a pleasant learning environment that will also allow people to network and share ideas.

My aim is to have everyone who attends and isn’t already a full time internet marketer in that position within 3 months. So if you’s like to start the new year as a full time internet marketer this will change you life?

Over the two and a half days we’ll look at how to research create and market products. How to get anyone to JV with you (market your products) and how to build a small but effective list. Plus on the last day we are having a round table event where we all sit down together and brainstorm/discuss what we are doing. If necessary we’ll even do a workshop to give people the skills to succeed.

On top of that if you get one of these last tickets and want to be a full time marketers then I’ll sit down with you for an hour or two and help you formulate a step by step plan.

If you are interested In being a full time internet marketer and would like to know more then please email me @ Admin {at} wpgoldmine.com

I’m in the UK Mark and you are in Malaga I think, so it makes no sense for me to fly 8,000 miles or whatever for this.

But if you do this in Malaga or perhaps in London I’m in.

🙂

Great pep talk, Mark! Thank you!

I’m at a point where — after a fairly successful ten years — my main niche has run its course of popularity, and the dropping numbers & diminishing returns move it to the part-time/hobby category. I need to look at other niches or an activity that’s broader… perhaps even evergreen.

So, this was a timely post and one that encourages me to hit the ground, running… but with a new perspective.

Again, thanks!

Hi Mark,

Can’t make it, I’m pre-booked for another conference – but love your attitude. I’m involuntarily retired and working online fulltime, but I can’t make it pay my living expenses. How the heck do you compete with all the article writers on Elance that want $2 – $5 per article? I get more than that, but I don’t get enough work.

Oh, yeh, I can write, and I have several books in print – but at best that’s a one-off payment of $1500 for the 65,000 words, so that’s no answer.

So I would love to know your ideas, I need to multiply up my income.

Best,

Alan

It really depends on how much you are happy to work for, my wife generally works for private clients for 1 cent – 1.5 cents a word depending on how long they have been using her and quantity, she can research and write up to 30 500 articles a day. When she started it was probably about 20 articles a day. However she charges corporate clients more.

It’s all about building up a loyal client base she is happy to write initially for clients for 1 cent a word because she knows that once they see the quality of her work they will usually be happy to pay more, if they aren’t she has enough clients to keep her busy.

She would rather earn $150 a day writing 30 articles that $100 writing 10.

Having said that writing isn’t the only option, there are lots of things you can do, why not specialize and write and distribute press releases, I just paid someone $30 for a 800 word press release and distribution they can probably easily handle 10 of those a day. Once you have satisfied customers offer them 4 PR’s written and distributed a month for $97.

Step 1 has always got to be to establish yourself and build up your reputation.

Hi Alan, Something you might take a look at is writing PLR. Sounds like you are comfortable
writing and just need to know how to make more from that to start with. I’ve been on Tiffany
Dow’s list for some time. She is a writer also, get on her list and check out what she does
to make a good income writing. I believe she either has or is about to release a product on
writing PLR. She has been a ghost writer for some of the gurus, but is now doing her own
thing, She definitely does not have the typical guru mindset. Just google Tiffany Dow, you’ll
find her.

I’m sure Mark has a good idea or two, but I hope this helps,
Neal

Mark, I also hope you come back to UK and get the word out early enough for those of us who would be interested.

So did your wife start taking writing assignments at any price and then increased her price gradually? For someone just starting out in writing how would you suggest they start?

Thanks.

She set a low price at first then gradually raised it, mainly to help control the flow of business,. Too low and you get too much work too high and not enough.

Tiffany makes her money because she has built a list not really due to her writing. She has found a market and is maximizing that market, she didn’t start of quickly.

If you can write Alan then do ebooks and sell them, or join wpg and hang your hat out there, we are always looking for new writers there who can write good articles quickly and at a decent price. Most of the writers have a mixture of work paying diff amounts.

Contact your nearest web design firms and ask them if they want staff writers to write content, link bait or promo articles.

A lot of working online is about building reputation (just like offline) and that takes time and requires taking on some of the crappy jobs, then just build your customer base from there. Add in some adsense income, amazon and clickbank and you should be ok!

Good luck

Paul

Great post. I really appreciate you breaking the process down into steps. Most people think making money online full-time is an unmanageable task, but here you’re showing that it isn’t.

With out that, you are on borrowed time. If you can believe it- then you can achieve it! Period-

Are you still using Serpassist, Ezarticle link and Socialadr? We are trying to expand our base. We have slightly over 30 web site built and are ranking on page one and two, but the number of back link are weak. Would like to hear if you are happy with the three programs mentioned above.
Your input always appears sound and well thought out.
We have a saying around here – if you are committed, there is always a way…
Thank you for your time.

Hey Mark,

I personally am a full time marketer. I did many online jobs before I became a full time marketer. I have been a telecommuter, a content writer, an academic article writer and online tutor. But I am much more comfortable doing Internet marketing. I shifted careers to Internet marketing after I had raised enough capital and was able to pay my bills for a few months before my business took off. I have written a work at home book that talks about my experiences and gives tips for online entrepreneurs. The link to my website is http://www.onlineriches.org hope is okay to put it here Mark!

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the insight.

I have been running my website for quite sometime, although, i have not really taken it off the ground. I have been making a few sales here and there but not enough to support my dedicated server hosting expenses, seo, and linkbuilding activities or to support myself financially via this venture.

I am not quite sure, what’s wrong with this site! Really appreciate your ideas!

Hi, if it’s the just the site you are linking to then I would say that you don’t need a dedicated server. Personally i would concentrate on getting unique content and reposition the adverts above the fold so that people see them.
