OptimizePress And Wishlist Member – A Match Made In Heaven

By Mark / November 9, 2010

Some things were just meant to be together, Romeo & Juliet, Laurel and Hardy, Strawberries and Cream etc, Now you can add one more match made In heaven to that list.

Optimizepress and Wishlist Member.

When I set up WordPress goldmine and Video Creation mastery I used Amember to control the membership, Vbulletin for the forum and to deliver the content, I also used a premium WordPress theme for the front end. (WPG was originally a html sales page). It works well but can a real pig to set up. I think wordpress goldmine took me about 5 or 6 days to get it like i wanted and VCM about 4. One of the longest parts was getting the sales pages and login pages looking right.

I was actually very close to signing up for Nanacast to deliver this product before I decided to check out OP and WL, Nanacast would have cost me $99 or $149 per month and I don’t think it would have worked as smoothly as this combination.

One of the reasons I haven’t posted anything for about 6 weeks was because I was in Las vegas running a seminar and then I returned home and turned the seminar into a course. Last week I planned the delivery method and decided to try a theme that has recently been released called Optimizepress along with Wishlist member and simple:press for the forum portion of the site.

I was blown away by just how easy it was to integrate these 3 products. The main parts went together without a hitch but it’s the little bits that blew me away.. for example when I add a video or make a post , there is automatically a thread created in the forum so members can discuss it. I build a skeleton sales page in 5 minutes then just filled in the blanks.

Wishlist worked first time with both Clickbank and Paypal, without me having to buy any additional plugins or tweak something. I managed to get a site up and my first members in about 24 hours. Having done it once I am sure I could now get the whole process completed in under 6 hours.

I’ve created a Video to show these tools in action, it’s only about 12 minutes long but you’ll see the power of this combination.

You Can find out more about the Tools I used at:

I’d Love to know what you think about this combination, let me know by posting comments or questions below.

Yes, I agree with Todd. This is useful information. I love it when people walk through an installation and show you “exactly” what they did to build a site. Very useful… thanks Mark!

Hi Mark,

Thanks for doing that video – I was looking for EXACTLY that setup for a new project I’m working on. I knew Wishlist and OptimizePress worked well together, but forums were the piece missing. I typed the three product names in Google and your site popped up at #1 – great stufff.

Very glad to have hit this page, thanks for doing that video!

I assume you’re using the WordPress Plugin for aMember. I currently have a non-WP implementation of aMember and would like to migrate to the WP Plugin. Any thoughts on that?

Rod, if it’s possible I would move away from amember and use a plugin for wordpress thats been designed from the bottom up. I have 2 amember/wordpress installs and if it were possible i’d swap to wishlist tomorrow.

Hi Mark,

Great review.!I actually use OptimizePress in almost every membership site I build.

BTW, my team and I developed a sidebar registration form for free membership level that requires only email and username and has real time validation. It registers the user to a free membership level right after he clicks the “register” button.

This is the link to the plugin: http://wishlistregistrationwidget.com

Would love to hear your thoughts regarding the plugin.

Regards,
Bob
