Why I Love Bad Products

I  love it ever few months when a obviously overhyped crap product comes out as it allows me to clean out the lists of who I receive emails from. I recently got a huge deluge of emails about the Clickbank code. So I checked it out. The problem was the further I dug the more obvious it became that the sales letter was the biggest lie since ….well since the last big lie.

If I can spot that after less than 10 minutes research it means that the people promoting it..and there are lots either A) know it’s a poor choice to promote it and don’t care about their subscribers or B) Don’t care enough about their subscribers to do a bit of research.

So lets look at the obvious things that they should have noticed.

1. The headline…. Clickbank newbie makes $48,000 in his first Month

This product is by Michael Jones  ( it’s not really but we’ll come to that later!)  A bit of research would have shown that Michael Jones Had a product out late last year called Cracking The Adwords Code And also a product on clickbank called The Adwords Manifesto   So hardly a newbie!!  He’s been using the same methods in the book to rake in thousands a month If you believe the other products..

2. The fact that he already had a product on Clickbank that was hyped by other marketers surely doesn’t mean that those $48,000 worth of sales came from that product does it???  I’ll let you decide!

3. Ok so who is Michael Jones  Ok so according to all his sales copy he is an Ohio man…. really? since when was Ohio part of Israel? From reading various posts in different forums I beleive that Michael Jones is an alias for Roy Oron & Maayan Marzan. The Two have had a string of products over the past few years. Just search on their names and you’ll see pleanty of negative comments.   The Voice of Michael Jones is provided by a Voice Over artist from Ohio who advertises on Elance. So The Ohio Connection is sort of correct.

The product itself is just a rehash of other products and a rewriting of “Michael Jones” other Adwords products…  Basically find a product on clickbank, spend $500 a day on adwords and wooo hoo we are rich…. or possibly heading towards bankrupcy.

You’ll find that every month or so a product comes along that is hyped by loads of people usually this means that it’s payign good commissions not that it’s good. In the Past year i have found only  ahandful of products that I would consider worth promoting. One of those was a very similar product to The Clicbank code called Commission Blueprint If you want to get into adwords then i would recommend that. Personally I’ll be sticking with Article Marketing

Be careful out there,  and unsubscribe from those lists!!

Twitter – Controling The Signal To Noise Ratio

Twitter is an enigma, The potential to use it for good,to break news and also to make money is undisputed. On the other hand The “signal to Noise Ratio”  can be prohibitive. For those of you who don’t know what signal to noise ration is let me explain with the help of Wikipedia.

“Signal-to-noise ratio compares the level of a desired signal (such as useful twwets) to the level of background noise(sales pitches and other useless tweets). The higher the ratio, the less obtrusive the background noise is.”

So basically the less background noise the better the signal to noise ratio… On twitter the noise is the pointless constant spamming or poor quality tweets someone makes. I once followed someone who tweets solely consisted of what music they were listening to.. At the other end of the spectrum I got 50 tweets from one1 person in a day promoting GDI..the seller of those pointless .ws domains. Did either of the tweeple think they were being useful and helpful?

I’ve recently used the method I laid out in the Free Twitter Tips and Tricks book I released last week to build up over 3000 followers in the past month. I now have a responsibility to provide useful interesting information to those followers and not constant sales messages. Personally I like to follow people who inspire me and with whom I can enter into conversations so why shouldn’t I try to follow that example. Unfortuatly many of these people get lost in the constant background noise so the question is how to Deal with it.

I think the obvious answer is to go through my twitter account and remove people who don’t provide a good signal to noise ratio. Personally I don’t mind getting tweets that are sales pitches, I’ve often found very useful ideas and products this way bit I don’t want to be bombarded with them.

If everyone adopted a policy of only following people who posted interesting and useful tweets 80% of the time Twitter would be a far more useful place..

Thats my Views and I’ve probably missed something obvious. As an internet marketer am I being a hypocrite? Let me know what you think by leaving a comment or sending a tweet.

Is There Really No Such Thing As A Free Lunch

If you have been keeping up with the latest IM promotions you could well be forgiven for thinking that The definition of free has changed.

To me A Free product means exactly that it’s free, it costs nothing , there is no payment needed. If you tried to access the Free Butterfly marketing promotion yesterday you would no doubt have seen that Free means different things to Guru’s as it does to us humbler marketers.

In the case of BFM 2.0 free meant a $29.95 postage and packing fee.. Wow How expensive is postage in the US?? I got a router and an Ipod fedexed over night from New York To Spain for about the same price. On top of that you signed up for a forced continuity program for a Newsletter which costs $40 a month .. (forgive me if I am wrong with the price I was laughing too much at this stage!).

Good Luck cancelling

I also loved all the email’s that came out about how you are getting agreat piece of $2000 software for free. I hope it’s improved from the buggy program that was released 2 years ago. I am sure I have seen it offered a few times since them for much less.

I hope you asked the guys promoting it if they use this “awesome”  (irony!!) piece of software.

So What am I going to do to try to redress the balance and show you that there are some great marketers out there who actually care about the people who read our blogs and buy our products.

How does this sound.

My favorite fellow marketer goes by the name of Potpiegirl like me she actually cares about people and above all wants people to succeed. So I am going to include a link to an excellent free guide she has released about creating an income from Squidoo. It is well worth a read.

I am also going to show you how to find a sucessful business model that you can copy and improve on.

So first off lets look at the video , it’s just over 8 minutes long but if you follow what I am doing I guarantee that it can change your life. There are loads of successful business models out there so just find the one that suits your circumstances.

Hope you enjoyed that. To grab Potpiegirl’s free book Click Here

Finally I am running an experiment with twitter so if you enjoyed this post please use the link at the top of the post to retweet about it. I’ll reveal my results in a few weeks.

As always comments are welcome.

The 3 Stages of Site Promotion

The following is an article I just posted on ezine articles, normally I never cross post but on this occassion I think it is worth while.  If you just promote a site without thinking about exactlky what you are doing then this post is for you..

“Would you walk into a restaurant hand the waiter $100 and then walk out?? Would you go to Wal Mart pay for your weeks shopping and then leave it in the store? Of course you wouldn’t but why do you do the same thing with your websites?

For some reason people seem to think nothing of building a website then moving onto the next one before they’ve even finished promoting the original one. I can understand this as i have often got renewal requests for websites that I had completely forgotten about.

The latest was ranking at #1 in Google for a keyword phrase with almost 6,000,000 broad matches. The annoying thing was it hadn’t been monetized! Just because I am an idiot it doesn’t mean to say you need to be one too.

Part of the problem is that building websites and researching is fun whilst promoting them is boring and repetitive. None of us wants to spend out days getting back links and submitting out sites to various directories.

Luckily there are two ways around this, the first is outsourcing. Outsourcing the boring repetitive tasks is a good idea but only if your existing sites are making money. If they aren’t or you are starting out then the best way is to get your hands on some automated site promotion tools.

Site promotion tools can knock hours off of the time it takes to promote a site leaving you more time to do the things you enjoy. Why spend 5 hours submitting your sites RSS feeds to various aggregators when a tool can do it in 8 minutes.

It’s always much better to work smarter than to work harder!!”

Under Siege From Mass Control 2

Is it safe to open my email yet?? For the past week i’ve been bombarded with emails about mass control 2.0. Every time I opened my mail program it wasn’t nigerian scams or email about lottery wins (hey I won 3 again this week…woohooo) that was flooding my inbox it was pre launch emails about mass Control 2.0.

The thing Is these all came from marketers I like and trust as the charlatans have long since been subjected to the unsubscribe button. Something is bothering me about this…

Now don’t think I am going to complain about Mass Control. I’m not, the original product was excellent and I am sure 2.0 is just as good. I hope so cause I got it. I also think that Frank Kern is one of the very few good guys in the internet marketing world.

Actually there are 2 things bothering me, the first  is why Frank Kern actually needs to use affiliates?

I am sure Fank has massive lists. If he marketed to his lists alone he could cut the price by at least 50% and that would generate more buyers. I do have my therory about this, and I am convinced that these guys take turns in releasing products and in return for promoting someone elses product your product will be promoted when you release it. Just my over active imagination? you tell me!

The second one is that mass control is aimed at Internet marketers who want to launch products some of the people who were sending out emails and promising their first born if you bought through their links have lists made up of lot’s of newbies. In none of the emails I saw was anyone told that it might not be suitable for them.

Hopefully I’ll be able to open my inbox now as the MC2.0 has almost sold out..at least until Frank finds 50 copies under his bed in a weeks time!

Finally a confession, I actually had a dream a few days back that i was invited around to Franks Kerns house for dinner… I blame the pre launch!!!!!

Right back to work…I should stop thinking too much and eating cheese before I go to bed
