I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last posted something. I'd like to come up with a good excuse but all I can say is that I'm sorry and it won't happen again..(probably). This time last year I sat down and put together a list of things I wanted to achieve this year. Looking back at it now I managed to achieve most of them , (The night with Nicole Kidman was probably never realistic!). Some I surpassed , some I didn't quite achieve and some I never really started.  But none of that matter what matters is that I had a plan. I’ve been offline for almost a week due to the local telecom company forgetting how to maintain DSL lines!  12 -18 months ago that would have been a disaster for me. I wouldn’t have been able to create sites or update existing sites.  This time without internet access it was great, I was able to get to the mountains and the beach secure in the knowledge that my sites were fine and that they would basically update and maintain themselves. When I was at school I was terrible at maths, I was fine with the basic stuff but when it came to quadratic functions, sine and cosines I was completely lost. Quite ironic when you think that I later went on to work in one of the worlds biggest banks. If you still need to hold down a full time job while at the same time trying to build up your online portfolio you should be looking to build income from projects that take little maintainance. It's all very well for someone to write a book telling you to create a site then submit 5 articles a day for a month (This was really the recommendation in a report I read this week!) but it's not realistic.  Yes you could outsource the work but you'd soon have spend $750-$1000 before you'd made a cent. When it comes to creating an online business lack of focus is probably the biggest thing holding us back. Focus is important on 2 levels.
