It’s June 1st today so why not dedicate the next month to laying the foundation of a long term business.

I am not suggesting that at the end of the month that you’ll be able to retire but I am saying that you’ll have a usable system in place that you can build on. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is an Internet marketing career. I’ve been doing IM for over 4 years now it’s only in the past 9 months that I’ve finally got myself organised so that I can work a few hours a week if I wish and still maintain my income.

If you are willing to sacrifice 30 hours this month and $30 then you can succeed.

The first stop you should make is ezinearticles.com. Ezinearticles is a great place to research business models.  There are loads of categories here find one that appeals to you. Once you click on a sub-niche you’ll see a link to the top Authors in each niche. Follow this link and you’ll get a list of the Top Authors in that niche. Now all you need to do is to click on some of their articles and look at where their resource links go.

This way you’ll get to see the business model they are using, and believe me if they have bothered to write lots of articles it is working. Follow the process to the end and see all the tricks and tactics they use

It’s now down to you to replicate the business model.

Even creating your own product can cost less than $30.  The graphics on my Twitter Tips and Tricks Site cost me  $17, the domain cost me $9. I wrote the book in less than a day. Although I am giving away the product at the moment I could start to charge for it or even sell it as a complete business package via a site like sitepoint or digitalpoint.  Check out the graphics at www.twittertipsandtricks.com

It’s no secret that I very rarely use this blog to promote anything and if I do I can guarantee it’s worth you considering it.

It’s also no secret that one of the keys to my success over the past year is Micro Niche Finder. It has allowed me to target niches with very little competition and lots of searches. Adsense income alone from sites I’ve biult around niches and keywords I’ve found in the past 6 months was $500 last month and affiliate commission was similar.  Not bad for a $67 product.  However that price is about to change.

Version 4 of micro niche finder was released this week and it’s had major improvements. Gone are the wordtracker stats and they have been replaced with Stats from Google.  The immediate impact from this was that by rerunning some old searches double the number of results were returned .

Other changes Include the Strength of competition indicator being moved and replacing it on the main dashboard is a Commercial intent indicator, basically an indication of the likely hood of someone buying who uses that search phrase.

Within 2 minutes of the upgrade i had found a search term for a Nintendo Wii that had almost 1000 searches a month and only 47 competing pages with a comercial intent indicator of 89% not bad for a first attempt.

Unfortunatly with the improvements the price is due to go up so if you have been thinking of buying Micro Niche Finder now is the time to buy it. James Jones the creator has added more videos that show you just how powerful MNF can be.

Over the past 10 days I have been reviewing all my old sites old tools and e-books i’ve bought. I try to do this once or twice a year and it always suprises me how valuable this excecise is. I’ll freely admit I make the same mistake that many people make, I get a great idea for a site then go ahead and build it but before i’ve got it as profitable as possible  I’ll have another idea and move on to another project.

These 2 to 3 weeks session where I review everything allows me to focus on the sites and get them profitable again. 2 sites I spent a day working on last week have already made me over $120 in the past 3 days .One of them was a domain I bought placed wordpress on and promptly forgot about it.

One week later it’s getting almost 40 visitors a day the sales alone would now make this site worth around $500 if I was to sell it. But whats even better is that I’ve built it in such a way that I can sell adverts in the form of review spots which rotate on the front page so as the traffic increases I can increase the charges for these. Without doing this review I would probably have left this site to expire.

What makes this whole process much easier is a free tool i’ve discovered called Bubbl.us this allows you to create a visual representation of your workload  . You can use it to plan sites or even use it to plan your work for the day.  I’ve been using it to plot the promotion I’ve been doing on each site. I was using whiteboards and spreadsheets for this but I usually forgot to put something on there.

I really need to get my act together and keep this blog updated! Over the past 2 months I’ve been really busy with my Personal mentoring membership site, My Plr article site and I’ve moved into affiliate marketing in a big way.

I am pretty much letting my adsense sites die now and any that I do build are based on high quality unique content with adsense added as almost an afterthought. Adsense is far from dead but the time and effort you need to expend to make a site earn $5 a day is not really worthwhile any longer. Compare that to an affiliate site which might take the same amount of time and effort but by choosing the right product the rewards are much higher.

For example I know a product that pays $20 commission and converts at just over 3.5% For every 100 people that go to the site I earn just over $60. Take the same niche and an adsense site, for every 100 people that go there i may get 20 people click on an advert If I could earn $1 per click I would still only earn $20 And trust me when I say that $1 clicks are pretty rare in most niches.

If I wish to earn more money I can create an adwords campaign and drive traffic to the site immediatly. If you haven’t yet thought about creating an affiliate site you really should give it some serious thought. Also don’t let the thought of adwords or the horror stories of people losing thousands of dollars put you off trying an ad campaign. For the past 2 weeks I have been running 5 campaigns testing some theories and I’ve spent less than $20 so far. These campaigns are earning me $40 to $60 a day.

This is the time of year where I set out my plans for what's to
come so in this newsletter I have decided to let you into some of
my plans for the coming months and have a bit of a review of what
has changed for us during the past year. And what a difference 12
months makes.

At the start of 2006 I was still focusing on building Adsense
portal sites, I was churning out 10-20 sites a day using my auto
building system which created the sites, and a blog farm at the
same time and then automatically posted links to the blogs every 4
hours . 12 months on and the sites I build are very different , I
now build small 10 page sites with either Adsense or Pay Per Lead
ads and promote them with article marketing and social book
marking. I now build only 1 or 2 per week and I am concentrating on
creating large themed sites with multiple sub domains. I have built
in the ability for me to switch from Adsense ads to CPA ads
instantly this allows me to use 2 copies of the same sites and test
how both types of ads perform.

At the beginning of the year my sole source of income was from
Adsense now it is only a small part of my income my aim is to
gradually ease back on Adsense until it is only earning me about
20% of my income. I have made a lot of progress with affiliate
sales this year and I have some product sites that are earning
consistently. I have also started to make some income on Pay Per
Lead ads. I sold my first products during the year and created my
first list.  (You my dear friends!) .  I have also been writing
online income related articles for a few magazines.  I have also
added the profit sharing sites I mentioned in the last newsletter
as a source of income however this is planned as a long term
residual income so I am just adding the occasional $100 and not
planning on withdrawing anything until late next year.

Around the middle of the year I handed over all the promotional
duties of my sites to Allison since then she has discovered talents
she never realized she had. So as well as promoting all my sites
she now writes articles for people along with e-books. In the last
4 days alone she has written over 30,000 words.  I am seriously
considering setting up a site promoting her article writing luckily
for us we have a neighbor who has had research papers published and
used to write parliamentary documents in England who can help out
if Allison gets too busy. So if you ever need any articles you know
where to come.

Next year is looking good I have a plan in place to hopefully
treble my income between now and late next year.  My plan last year
was to double my income which I had managed by February. So you can
see there is a lot to be said about making a plan and I would
encourage you all to sit down and make a plan before the New Year.

My plan for next year involves lots more PPL sites,  a membership
site selling ppl/Adsense sites  maybe a bit of coaching and I have
a couple of  collaborations planned with other people who earn all
their income online. Plus there is something coming in the next
week or 2 that will be huge and may shape the coming year for many
people. I'll write about it you as soon as I am able to.
