7 Ways To Write Great Content

How to write good content

Having to constantly create fresh content can be difficult. In fact the reason I am writing this post is that I didn't have a clue what to write about today! So I grabbed my faithful old Moleskine notebook and wrote a draft outline in bed this morning. When you are stuck for something to write about consider one of these 7 methods to get some great content.   Newsflash****  I just finished writing this and I discovered that another of the members at Wordpress Goldmine have broke the $100 a day barrier. It's posts like Mikes that make everything worthwhile...well done Mike . You … [Read more...]

Lets get back To Basics – Keep it Simple

Get back to basics

We humans are perverse creatures we all seem to have a tendency to take the easiest most simple things and then try to make them difficult. Creating a niche site isn't difficult, Seo isn't difficult , Keyword research isn't difficult so why do we all (myself included) make things so difficult that we sometimes struggle to get it right? What's difficult about creating a site? Install Wordpress with a few clicks of a button, add a simple theme , add some plugins that do things we need then add content.  Voila that's it... why the hell did I then spend 2 hours yesterday getting a … [Read more...]

Monday Tip – Use The Rel=Author Tag

rel=author

Last year Google introduced a new tag called rel=author, the purpose of the tag was to identify the author of a piece of content and assign the authors image to it in the rankings. There has been much written about it since but despite that it seems that very few people have implemented it. I could write pages about why you should be implementing rel=author but Jill Whalen has covered it really well on her High Rankings blog where she gives 5 reasons for implementing the authorship tag.   If you're thinking it's just not worth the trouble, here are 5 reasons why it's super … [Read more...]

Results Of The Recent Survey I Conducted

Business accessories

Thank you to all of you who took the time to complete the survey I recently posted, special thanks must go to the spammer who thought that by typing in a certain keyword about 100 times he would get some links... get a life loser! If you missed the original survey you can see it at: http://mjthompson.net/1350/monday-tip-give-your-readers-what-they-want/ The results were quite interesting and very enlightening and were actually very useful and have resulted in me planning some changes to the way I do things around here. First off I now have a much better understanding of my average … [Read more...]

The Best Keyword Research Tool Has Just Arrived – Keyword Blaze Pro

keywordblaze

That's a bold claim in the title isn't it!  I am not one for hype but I stand by that claim 100% Keyword Blaze Pro is superb at what it does. I also make no apologies for blatantly promoting a product in a blog post, in fact I suspect I'd upset more people if I didn't promote this considering how good it is and how cheap it is... Over the past 7 years online I've seen keyword tools come and go, they work for a while and then something breaks and they just aren't as effective as they once were. Micro Niche Finder was superb for a long time and is responsible for earning me a lot of … [Read more...]

A Return To Sanity… Please!

Time for sanity

I've just finished putting together the March edition Of I.M. Manifesto which will be released over the weekend. One thing I noticed and was made clear to me when I was reading the articles that this months contributors had submitted was, Most people I know through this blog and WPG are sensible and don't get caught up in the hyperbole and sabre rattling that seems to emanate from many blogs and public forums. Since google changed the algo last week (zzzz Booooring) there have been numerous posts about the death of SEO (Yes I know I wrote one myself!) and people stating half truths and … [Read more...]

How to Generate Traffic To Your Blog – Video Series

Blog

Over the past few months the traffic to this blog has more than doubled, of those visitors over 55% are new visitors. I achieved this without buying any links or using a blog network to link back to my site or indeed doing any traditional link building at all. Following last weeks actions by Google against blog networks I have decided to focus more on  attracting visitors by engaging with them and by using more of  Pat Flynn's Be Everywhere strategy. Building links naturally is what google wants and this is what I intend to do, by simply ensuring that as many people as possible … [Read more...]

Google Algo Changes – Is SEO Dead?

is seo dead

Another week another Algo change , at least that's what it seems  like. It seems that yesterday google instigated some major changes to the algorithm which targeted Build My Rank (BMR) and possibly other private blog networks. However there are also plans in place for Google to target "overly optimized sites" You read that right, google are planning on targeting sites that are obviously seo'd. I haven't bothered to check how bmr has affected me yet as google choose to instigate these changes while I was flying to Barcelona . So much for me having a few days away from IM! I can't … [Read more...]

Monday Tip – Building a Social Media Empire

Social media

Over the past few posts I've talked a lot about social media and how social media will play a huge part in your future rankings. If you haven't started to use social media effectively you really should start now. Just like building a list having engaged social media fans will ensure that even if google de-indexes your main site you will still be able to talk directly you your subscribers and ensure your message is out there. One way that you can ensure that you start to use Social media more effectively is to use some of the social media centric sites like Triberr and Empire … [Read more...]
