Dear Google Why Do We Always Fight?

Man and woman staring at each other with hostile expressions.

Why is Internet Marketing a constant struggle with Google? It shouldn't be , it should be a symbiotic relationship with Google telling us what they want , us marketers providing it, Google is happy we are happy and the people using the search engines are happy. But no, thats not how it works.   Google seems determined to make us all jump through hoops to get ranked and when we do finally start to rank they change the rules again and then we have to start over again. Google seems to hate people who use the internet to make money… well everyone who isn't them or one of their … [Read more...]

iCame iSaw iConquered

Sorry it's been a while since I posted, I was very busy producing a new WSO then last week I had some friends from the WPG Forum come and visit and I never got to complete the post I was writing.   Which is actually a good thing as it was a rant against some marketers that seem intent on killing Internet Marketing by promoting methods that don't work and by finding dubious methods of getting money out of customers, but that will keep for another day as I am sure it isn't going to go away very soon.   It's been quite a depressing time for me personally in the past few … [Read more...]

Amazon Sales Tax – A Hint of Commonsense at Last

Amazon-Sales-Tax-Tennessee

Let me get straight to the point and say  "I generally don't like politics and I don't trust Politicians" I suspect 99% of the things they do have an ulterior motive. On top of that I make no attempt to pretend I understand the American Political System. So now that i've made that clear it's good to see that California looks set to repeal the "Amazon Tax Law" that was recently passed and resulted in Amazon dropping all is californian affiliates , believed to be over 10,000 people. Amazon have stated that they will re-instate their affiliates. I first came across this trend for US states … [Read more...]

Getting Real with Social Media

Austin-Social-Media-company

This is a the latest in a series of guest posts , This Guest Post is by Alden Tan, There’s been a lot of talk on social media and online marketing today, most commonly about it being the “way to go” when it comes to bringing businesses online. Good business prospects Great form of communications Easy way to make more money More and more businesses are doing it anyway Low costs compared to … [Read more...]

Google Hates You!

Blackhat or Whitehat

Google Hates You!.. They do, they loath you and spend all their massive resources trying to stop you earning money online, They hate they way your sites clog up their nice databases… well at least it seems that way. I really do wonder if sometimes they have completely the wrong idea about what should rank in the indexes.  Last week i was doing a search for a particular golf club I wanted to buy, I typed in the club makers name and model and added review to the end , as I wanted to see what everyone else thought of it.  Almost every site on the front page was an online … [Read more...]

Scammers , Hackers, and Scum – It’s Time to Take Security Seriously

virus-sign

The last 5 days have been some of the worst in my time online. I seem to have been targeted by a series of scammers and hackers, the worrying thing is it's not like it's a concerted campaign it just a series of people who have decided that it's easier to try and scam and hack their way to an income than work at it. Luckily for me all I lost was about 6 hours getting my sites back to normal but it could have been much worse. First off lets look at 4 types of scams that people have tried to catch me out with.(and caught me with!) 1. Domain Renewals. I got an invoice today for a domain … [Read more...]

Backlinking Tools Revisited

15 months ago I wrote about 2 free tools that I was using as an alternative to outsourcing link building. Since then I have upgraded both to premium accounts and continue to use them on a regular basis   You can read that article at:   A Free Alternative To Outsourcing   Running an IM related forum means that I spend lots of time testing tools and products many of them aren't worth recommending so after a month or two I stop using them or cancel my subscription.  There are usually several reasons I don't stick with them.   1. They just don't … [Read more...]
