One thing that is certain when you try to make money online is that you need to get back links to your money sites. Those back links also need to be good quality and a long term prospect. Without out those you will struggle to build a long term profitable business.

Hand in hand with the recent outsourcing experiment I documented here and in the Wordpress Goldmine Forum I have also been testing back linking methods and the system I finally settled on turned out to be much more powerful that any other method I tried including the profile links which seem to be all the rage at the moment.

I’ve structured the system so that it gets you thousands good quality links over a long period of time. It is also structured so that it can grow with you so that if you have little spare money at the moment you can use the free features and as your income grow you can add new “modules” until you are creating links on an industrial scale. Using this method there is nothing stopping you dominating the Google rankings with multiple sites in the top 10 (one experiment I tried got 13 out of the top 15 for a relatively easy term). You could also use this to dominate the rankings with your ezinearticles pages or hubpages and squidoo lenses.

Wordpress Goldmine Version 2.00 is launching next week. On August 31st I’ll be removing the old videos and ebook and integrating Version 2.0 more closely with the forum.

There are several reasons for this obvious Wordpress has changed a lot over the last 18 months so most of the old videos are getting out of date. I’ve also been adding the Step by step courses on a regularly basis and these have built up into quite an encyclopedia of Online marketing. If you want to research a way to make money online then it’s probably already in a video series or planned for a future series..

Another major consideration is that the Forum now has almost 10,000 posts and 1000 members and it has become the main focus of Wordpress Goldmine so it’s time to shift the emphasis from the pdf and old slow loading flash videos to the new cloudfront based Mp4 Videos with professional quality sound and the forum .  Version 2  will still have a 115 page manual for those that prefer to read rather than view. It will also still have the web 2.0 reference guide and the site promotion blueprint.

Initially when we started we were focused entirely on using wordpress to create sites since then we’ve added various free courses which have increased the range of topics covered, We’ve had article marketing courses, Product creation courses and currently an outsourcing course all of these are free to members. Many of these are of higher quality and more relevant than courses being sold for between $47 and $97. Wordpress Goldmine is fast becoming an encyclopedia of Money Making Techniques

One final major change is that we are changing from a one time payment  to a monthly subscription model.  If you would rather pay a one time payment (you’ll be grandfathered in and have access to V1 and V2) you can still join Wordpress Goldmine for a single one time payment for the next 7 days.  I have been putting off this change for about 6 months now but I’ve finally seen sense and decided that this is the best way to move forward and include some cool features and tools I want to implement.

I thought it was about time that the Moday Tips section returned.

When I did the article marketing course /step by step in  Wordpress Goldmine I showed how to quickly and easily increase your click through rate to 20 or 30%. What I didn’t show at the time was a quick and easy way to check those CTR percentages so you can see what articles need to be worked on and which ones are performing well.

The Video below show a really quick method I’ve devised , there is probably an even quicker way but this works for me and I am not too good with excel!

You’ll know If you’ve read my blog before that I  am I big supporter of EzineArticles and Article Marketing in general. Two months ago I bit the bullet and signed up for the premium ezine article service, I had been holding out as the $97 did seem a bit steep. However the additional stats and articles being accepted within hours rather than days pursuaded me to try it.

I decided that as I was paying almost $100 I had better make sure I submited at least 100 articles a months to get my moneys worths. In order to test the effectiveness of this level of article marketing I have focussed on 5 sites 3 of which are clickbank 2 are adsense/ebay sites.

I used one of my clickbank accounts that was earnign about $50 a week on average for the 3 clickbank products.  I also did nothing else to the sites, no new content or other forms of site promotion.

I also wrote articles in the style I advocated in my Article Marketing Step by Step in Wordpress Goldmine, so in general the articles took less than 70 minutes a day to write I tried to write a minimum of 5 a day.

So 2 months down the line how are things going??

Well The clickbank account is now averaging around $400 a week with a best day of $137.  One of the Adsense/ebay sites with 3 content pages has earned almost $600 on it’s own.  The final site is a bit of a failure but it has had the lowest number of articles submitted for it so $150 is probably acceptable.

I’ll let you decide if you think that this proves that article marketing works… I know what I think!

I recently completed an Article Marketing Course as part of Wordpress Goldmine and in the past few weeks I’ve done a few interviews where I mentioned some of the things the course features. The one aspect that has had most comments and questions (and occasional abuse) is my assertion that when article marketing you should treat your Resource/Bio box like an Adwords Ad.

I thought I’d use this blog post to try to clarify exactly what I mean.

The first thing that you need to realise that as a marketer the resource box is the most important part of the article, this is where you are going to make your money and allow you to realise you dreams. To put it as simply as possible, If you get 1000 views on an article and have a 10% Click Through Rate (CTR) 100 people will visit your site. If you manage to get a 30% CTR you have 300 visitors and hopefully make 3 times as much money as you did previously.

Simply increasing my click through Rate has Increased the income on some of my clickbank accounts from a regular $40 per day to over $100 a day several days a week.

The way I’ve done this is to look at how adsense ads are displayed and worded and then apply these techniques to my articles. People who do PPC sucessfully spend hours getting their ads right and testing them to make them as effective as possible. So why shouldn’t article maketers take as much time and effort to work out which resources boxes convert best and attract buyers.

Look at the following 2 resource boxes and guess which one would convert best.

Finally don’t think that you need to write short resource boxes, you can still use adsense styled resource boxes in longer format.The main thing is to experiment and see what grabs the attention of your readers.
