Yesterday I was having a really bad day…well bad is probably a wrong choice of words compared to some peoples trouble it was nothing,so annoying is probably more appropriate. I’d been promised a delivery, it didn’t turn up, I’d had to deal with a “client from hell” who after downloading all the downloads in the forum , asking me for a downloadable copy of all the videos and then asking me indepth essay length questions almost everyday for a month..did a charge back of 6 months subscriptions. So as you can imagine I was in a pretty foul mood. This last person really had me questioning my choice of career!

I then went into the Wordpress Goldmine forum and checked the days posts.. The first I read was from one of our long term members and revealed how she had just had her first $100 day. The second was from a newer member who had made her $100 for the month target 2 days earlier this month than last month. Funny how my foul mood soon disapeared.

So what do these 2 members have in common, well apart from being women they both work at their businesses almost everyday. They set themselves a plan and targets and stick to them. They know that internet marketing is not a get rich quick business model, but they also know that the more you work at it the more money you earn.

What can you learn from them?…everything! You can read my book and watch my videos and you’ll know how to make money online but it’s members like these two and hundreds more that will keep you motivated and focussed on a daily basis.

You learn from them and the other successful members that if you focus and set realistic targets then you will achieve success. The simplest way is one we use a target we regularly in the forum, to try to earn $100 1 day earlier every month. If you stick to that simple target you’ll be suprised at how quickly the date comes down and before long you’ll be adjusting your target to $1000.

So congratulations to Heather and Rachel and also a special congratulations to Niurka who had a baby last week…and posted in the foum from the hospital (I did mention the members were dedicated didn’t I!). We have a few more forum babies due this month or next so it looks like we’ll be installing a creche.

If you want to make money online with Internet Marketing it is really important that you get yourself a simple system that will work well and keep you focused.

That system should consist of a series of tasks that you perform daily. For example one of the things you could do is you could write a blog post. Another one could be to get 3 Do Follow links back to that post. You could also have a task of finding a clickbank product to promote. etc.

Try to get as many single tasks that you can think of and place them in a list and then every day choose 4 or 5 of them and do those tasks by the end of the week you should make sure that you’ve performed each task at least once.

Here is the sort of things you could have in your Task list.

• Post in Forums for 30 minutes with a link in your signature file
• Comment on Blogs for 30 minutes
• Find a Clickbank product to promote and produce a review
• Spend 30 minutes submitting sites/pages to social bookmarking sites
• Write an article
• Check JV forums for new products coming out soon.
• Write a chapter of a Product you are creating
• Tweet 10 times on twitter include 1 affiliate link in one of the tweets
• Write a short report to give away
• Create a video for your tube
• Submit an article to 10 article directories.

I am sure you get the idea now, by getting a task list and sticking to it you will soon start to see increased visitors and increased income.

I read today that Google are going to release their own operating system next year. Judging from the excellent Google Chrome browser I suspect that it will be an excellent OS. Google seem to have a policy of stripping things back to basics then adding the essentials and leaving out the non essential parts.

If you have ever used Google Chrome you’ll know that it is fast and stable, exactly what we want from a browser. I predict that the OS will be the same. This is also not a bad thing to do with your sites.

Look at your sites and review exactly what do you need to make money..If it’s essential use it if not get rid of it. Your site should be “lean and mean”. I constantly try to refine my sites removing items that are surplus to requirements this is why you’ll rarely see sign up boxes, or rss feeds displaying news etc.

What I consider essential is good unique content, affiliate links , and product reviews. One benefit of removing non essential items is that the sites will load quicker ensuring more visitors get to see them.

Find it Hard To Concentrate on Your Sites?

I have yet to meet anyone who hasn’t had times when the last thing they want to do is to work on their sites it happens to me quite often and I need to force myself to focus on the job I need to do. I’ve written many times in the past about creating a working environment that is conducive to working effectively without interruptions. One of the best ways to stay focused and productive is to surround yourself with people who are actually making things happen. One such place is to join forums where people are helpful and positive (avoid the ones where people are negative and have nothing positive to say, they can sap your will to live!!)

First things first, don’t confuse the Focus I am talking about here as the type of focus you should apply to individual tasks.

Look around your local town who is the most successful business man there? I’ll bet you one thing he has more than one business interest. Take Richard Branson for instance how many businesses does he have?  The reason why most successful business men are as successful as they are is because they Compartmentalize.

Compartmentalization is the ability to be able to switch from one area of focus to another whether it is in the course of a day, a week a month or a year.  The mistake that many of us make is that we take focus to to the extreme and just concentrate on one form of income so we’ll build adsense sites all day long or create products and forget about other opportunities.

The human brain doesn’t function well like this, when you are out driving are you solely focusing on what your feet and hands are doing or what music is playing on the radio?  No you brain is handling all sorts of tasks.When you were at school did you have math on a monday, Georgraphy on a tuesday, history on a wednesday? Or were the lessons spread throughout the week.  Did you have trouble focussing on math because geography came just before it?  I doubt it.

This is how we learn. To be successful you should compartmentalize your day/week In the morning build sites in the afternoon promote older sites. Have a morning of product creation followed by a bit of article writing. After all Variety is the spice of life. Avoid saying this week i am going to build 20 sites. I’ve tried this approach and failed at it, as soon as I tried compartmentalization then I achieved much more.
