There is nothing worse than spendin g an hour researching a niche only to find that it's very competitive or that there is not enough good kewords to make a site worthwhile.  I've been using Googles wonder wheel to get a feel for a niche before I even start to research it. If you want to do some very quick niche research you can't beat it. If any of you tech dudes from google read this why not color code it so we can see the approximate searches per month, we'd all be eternally indebted to you!
